The fact that exists in society is maintaining mental health is not taught to us from a young age. People tend to be ignorant about their mental health. Did you know that one in four people will experience mental health problems each year? This statistic is quite alarming and continues to rise.
We take the example of Adam who lives in a big city and is at a productive age. Adam works from Monday to Friday and from 9 am to 5 pm. Adam wakes up, sometimes has breakfast, goes to work, drinks coffee, and eats some usually unhealthy fast food for lunch. Then Adam drank coffee again, came home, had dinner, turned on the TV, and then went to bed. This routine repeats for 5 days a week. The weekends were then used to socialize and it made Adam feeling depressed about going back to work on Monday. Given such a hectic schedule and routine, it seems like Adam doesn’t have time to de-stress or exercise. Yet stress is a very important factor in our lives. If stress is not handled properly, it will build up and that’s when the person will experience mental health problems.
Stress on traders is even more likely. Think about it: You deal with numbers all day long, staring at charts on your monitor or phone screen. You are dealing with a loss for your own money. Exercising
Ideally, you should exercise for 30 to 45 minutes every day. Importantly, do moderately high-impact exercise that raises your heart rate, makes you sweat, and allows your body to release endorphins. As a reminder that endorphins are stress-relieving hormones and natural pain relievers produced by the body.
Cultivate a peaceful mind
You can try practicing yoga, meditation, listening to music, reading for pleasure, doing art activities such as drawing, or going for a walk. All of these activities are physically low-impact but give you time to clear your mind and clear your mind of stress.
As a trader, you are not only obliged to increase your capital money but also strengthen your mentality. You have to learn how to strengthen your mind through trading experience, be it sweet or bitter.
When you experience a loss, no matter how big, don’t let that loss affect your mind when making the next transaction. You should really be able to see that each one is a different transaction. Otherwise, you will forever be haunted by the loss that has actually passed.
A mental balance like this is no less important than strengthening your capital (money) because mental strength is what makes you able to survive in all market conditions.
